Dr. Felicia Owusu-Ansah

University of Ghana
Currently a Lecturer at the Theatre Arts Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Felicia Owusu-Ansah teaches Theatre for Development, Community Theatre, Research Methods, Theatre History among others. She is an applied Theatre Scholar whose research interest and practice focus include, developing new approaches to theatre towards development purposes, Augusto Boal and Theatre of the Oppressed, deploring indigenous knowledge for education and theatre techniques. Dr Owusu-Ansah has done extensive work in organising and facilitated Theatre for Development and community Theatre Programmes to campaign against ‘Irregular Migration’ in Ghana with support from Ghana Immigration Service, International Organisation for Migration, Ghana (IOM) and British High Commission Accra. She has also worked proficiently with the use of Forum Theatre to address social issues like ‘Care and Support for people living with HIV/AIDS’ and other health related issues in Ghana with support from Care International-Ghana (Obuasi). She is a member of the Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed International Federation of Theatre Research as well as the founder of Akuaba Theatre Productions – Accra (An NGO that employs Applied Theatre for Community Education).
