Northampton Community College
Professor of Philosophy
I have been teaching Philosophy from a liberatory and social justice perspective for over twenty years and my work has been heavily influenced, in content and form, by the traditions of Friere and Boal.  My PhD dissertation title was "Logic and Resistance: Reading Hegel in the Age of the War on Terrorism."  Lately my focus has been on developing interactive pedagogical strategies, including TO, to dismantle the most basic ideological assumptions that underpin and sustain oppressive social structures.  To that end, I teach my students to question such basic ideological presumptions as "Prisoner = Criminal," "Poor = Lazy," "Rich = Hardworking," "War ≠ Murder," "Markets = Fair."
