Ricardo Romero

Ricardo Romero is an 11th generation Chicano with roots in Mora, New Mexico and southern Colorado. In the 1960’s he was one of the founding members of both the Crusade for Justice and Escuela Tlatelolco and served as the National Coordinator of the Poor People’s Campaign in Washington D.C. In the 1980’s he helped found the Mexican National Liberation Movement. He was arrested at the LA Moratorium. Ricardo served time in federal prison for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury both in 1977 and in 1984. In 1989 he coordinated the media and support campaign for the Tierra Amarillo land take over in defense of the T.A. Land Grant in New Mexico. Ricardo continues community organizing at the Ricardo Falcon and Al Frente Community Center.
