Assistant Director
Richmond, VA
I am Filipina American. Daughter of immigrants. Born in Detroit. Lived in the Midwest until age 30.  Twelve year stint in the Pacific NW. Currently live in the South. Unmoored. Parent. Partner. PhD. Writer. Social Worker. Educator. Educational Developer. Learner. Theatre of the Oppressed practitioner. Privileged. Marginalized. Full of contradictions.

I have been doing Theatre of the Oppressed for the last 7 years, participating in my first training in the summer of 2011 and continuing to build my knowledge and practice since then. I am the co-founder and former co-director of Theater for Change UW, a program that uses T.O. and other participatory theater approaches to advance community dialogue and address issues related to classroom and institutional climate at the University of Washington (and beyond). I am currently the Assistant Director at the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence at Virginia Commonwealth University, leading and collaborating on a variety of equity and inclusion initiatives, and starting to do more T.O. workshops on campus, primarily with faculty.
